How is a weighted grade calculated?
Each score is multiplied by its weight, the results are added, and the total is divided by the sum of the weights.
Grade = Σ (score × weight) ÷ Σ weight
Final needed = (target − current × (1 − w)) ÷ w
Example
Homework 92% (weight 20), tests 81% (weight 30) and mid-term 76% (weight 20): (92×20 + 81×30 + 76×20) ÷ 70 = 82.7%.
Converting marks to a percentage
Divide the marks you got by the maximum marks and multiply by 100. 38 out of 50 is 76%.
