How is age difference calculated?

The age gap is simply the time between the two birth dates, counted in completed years, then months, then days, the same way as age.

Age difference = later birth date − earlier birth date

Same gap at every age

The difference between two people's ages never changes: a sibling born 3 years 7 months after you is always exactly that much younger, whatever today's date.

Leap years

Total days account for leap years automatically, so the day count is exact even across many years.
