How is the duration calculated?

Both moments are turned into a count of seconds, and the start is subtracted from the end. The result is split back into days, hours and minutes.

Duration = end date & time − start date & time

1 day = 24 hours = 1,440 minutes = 86,400 seconds

Shifts that cross midnight

For a night shift from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, set the end date to the next day. The calculator then gives 8 hours.

Daylight saving time

India doesn't use daylight saving time. In countries that do, a duration across the clock change can be an hour longer or shorter than shown here.

How do I calculate time between two times on different days?

How do I convert the result to decimal hours?

Use the “Total hours” figure. For example, 7 hours 30 minutes is 7.5 hours.
