How is CGPA calculated from SGPA?
CGPA is the credit-weighted average of your semester grade points, so a semester with more credits counts for more.
CGPA = Σ (SGPA × semester credits) ÷ total credits
Equal credits every semester: CGPA = average of SGPAs
Why credits matter
If semester 3 has 24 credits and semester 1 has 20, a good semester 3 lifts your CGPA more. Simply averaging SGPAs is only correct when every semester has the same credits. Your grade card shows each semester's credits.

Frequently asked questions
Is CGPA the average of SGPAs?
Only if all semesters carry the same credits. Otherwise it's weighted by credits, which this calculator does when you enter them.
Do failed or repeated subjects count?
Universities handle backlogs differently: usually the cleared grade replaces the fail once you pass. Use the SGPAs on your latest grade cards.
What's the difference between SGPA and CGPA?
SGPA is the grade point average for one semester; CGPA is the cumulative average across all semesters so far.
